Scholarships

Please complete this form to apply for one or more of the following 2021 scholarships for Sirens:

  • Scholarships for those who identify as BIPOC
  • Scholarships for those with financial hardships
  • Scholarships for librarians, educators, and book professionals (e.g., agents, editors, production personnel, booksellers)
  • 2021 Sabrina Chin “Braver Than You Think” Memorial Scholarships

Qualifications and Award Rules

Each of the following scholarships include a Sirens registration and a round-trip Sirens Shuttle ticket: BIPOC scholarships; financial hardship scholarships; and professionals scholarships. The 2021 Sabrina Chin “Braver Than You Think” Memorial Scholarships provide $500 for a 2021 scholarship recipient to use for any expenses directly related to attending or presenting at Sirens (e.g., travel, research materials). We hope to provide the Sabrina Chin scholarships to two first-time attendees and one first-time presenter, but if we do not have enough applicants, we will provide them to returning attendees.

We hope that if you qualify for more than one of these scholarships, you will apply for more than one of these scholarships. Please note that you may receive each type of scholarship only once every three years. For example, if you received a financial hardship scholarship last year, you may not receive a financial hardship scholarship this year, but you may receive other types of scholarships. But if you applied for a financial hardship scholarship last year and did not receive one, please do apply for a financial hardship scholarship again this year.

If we have more applicants than we have scholarships, then scholarships for those who identify as BIPOC and those with financial hardships will be awarded on a random basis; scholarships for professionals will be awarded on a random basis across professions; and Sabrina Chin scholarships will be awarded on a random basis with priority given to first-time attendees and presenters.

If you do not receive one of these scholarships this year, you may still apply for a programming proposal scholarship. You may apply for those scholarships as part of the submissions process.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at (help at sirensconference.org).
